NCPB men's handball head coach Brian Matthews is confident of defending their title in the handball Super Cup competition, which kicks off Saturday (today) at the Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi.
The Cereals tactician is bullish that the squad he has assembled will be difficult for any opponent to handle, saying they are out to win all matches.
“We are ready to go for the trophy. We are treating each match
as a final and we are aiming to win all the matches.
“We have a brilliant squad with few additions this season. We
have no injuries and we are in good physical shape,” noted Matthews.
They will take on Black Mamba
and GSU whom they are pooled together in group A.
The coach also believes his ladies side can challenge defending champions Nairobi Water for this year's title.
“Nairobi Water should expect a lot of surprises from us this year. We have corrected our past mistakes and we are ready to go head to head with them,” noted Matthews.
His counterpart Jack Habett will be
banking on new signing Claire Wanyonyi to lead Nairobi Water in their title
defense.
“We expect a tough competition especially from
NCPB and KDF but we are ready for them. Each competition comes with some new
taste, and we know we have something different to offer,” said Habett.
The Super Cup signals the return of the handball league set for early June.
