The tournament, featuring Kenya’s top club sides, witnessed intense battles across Pool A and B as teams jostled for early supremacy.
In the men’s Pool A, defending regular season champions NCPB made a powerful statement with a commanding 41–23 victory over Strathmore University.
Their dominant display ensured they topped the pool with two points. Despite not yet registering a win, GSU and Strathmore sit second and third, respectively, with further opportunities to turn their campaigns around on day two.
In Pool B, Equity Bank stormed to the top after overpowering Black Mamba 55–17 in one of the day’s most one-sided contests.
The team showed cohesion and firepower, marking them early favorites to advance to the knockout rounds.
In the women’s category, defending champions Ulinzi Sharks edged past Daystar University 43–33, while Nairobi Water stamped their authority with a 30–23 win over NCPB, earning both teams joint leadership in the standings with two points each.
Both squads showed great form, setting the stage for a potentially explosive showdown later in the tournament.
The day’s fixtures were officiated by top-tier referees and officials under the oversight of the Kenya Handball Federation.
With only six teams in the men’s category and high stakes for bragging rights and supremacy, every goal, save, and point matters.
