NCPB, Ulinzi set up Super Cup final

NCPB and Ulinzi will face off in the Super Cup 2019 men’s handball final after bashing out Strathmore and Black Mamba respectively, in reputable semi-final matches at the Nyayo stadium on Sunday.

NCPB trimmed out Strathmore after thumping the varsity side 23-13 in a skewed match, which saw the Cereals boss their way to the finals.

The Cereals had a fair-share of the scoring sheet, Gideon Mulwa thrusting the side with 4 points with William Malui and Nicholas Okoke playing co-stars with superb Pieces.

“Our defensive side played a vital role in landing us to the finals and we are yet to rectify some little slips made today in order to seize the finals,” said N.C.P.B Captain Elvin Otieno in a post-match interview with Citizen Digital.

The other semifinal witnessed a tight contest with Ulinzi rallying from behind to clip defiant Black Mamba 22-20 to set foot in the finals.

Mamba lifted of the first half on a high note winning 14-10 before Ulinzi found its boom in the second half to punish Mamba who had a lot of turnovers.

“It was a tight match but we made it to the finals and that is what we needed, in fact we are going to the finals to win it nothing more,” Said Ulinzi coach Obeid Nyaga in a post-match interview.

The final will be played on June 6, at the Nyayo Stadium Gymnasium.
