Ngetich said though it was windy the atmosphere was okay.

“It's just like last time, the climate was the same and I loved the atmosphere. Everyone was cheering on me and it gave me the motivation to continue running. I was not feeling lonely because the fans were in every corner, said Ngetich

Ngetich said she had waited for the medal for long: “Cross country is something I've loved since I was young. I don't have any program at the moment and will speak to my coach to know the way forward” added Ngetich.

In men’s race, John Korir emerged the winner after clocking 29:34 as defending champion and bronze medalist.

Korir was followed closely in second position by Amos Kiprotich who crossed the line at 29:46 tying with Silas Senchura. Daniel Simiu Ebenyo finished fifth position.

Korir said he was not expecting to win the race: “It’s my first cross country, I’m feeling good and I came here to see how my shape is and I’m happy. My target is Boston Marathon and I participated in this race to see how my body would respond.”
