No player is leaving Gor, says Rachier as debacle escalates

Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier has come out strongly refuting reports of an impending exit of three key players from their camp.

This is after reports linked Brazilian Wilson Silva Fonseca, Burundian Jules Ulimwengu and South Sudanese Tito Okello to possible exits.

According to Rachier, Jules Ulimwengu and Tito Okelo were allowed to fly out for international matches with their countries during the international break which was followed by halting of sporting activities in the country, and he’s adamant the players will return to the camp once sports ban is lifted in the country.

“We allowed Jules Ulimwengu and Tito Okelllo to go feature for their countries during the international break. It is evident that sporting activities are on hold in Kenya and that could be the reason the players have not returned. Currently we are not holding any training hence needles for them to be around,’’ claimed Rachier.

Citizen Digital has also learnt that Brazilian striker Silva Fonseca is preparing to fly out of the country but Rachier says it is not an indication of his exit from the club.

Our sources have further intimated that the Brazilian has had to rely on his family back in Brazil to purchase for him the air-ticket as cash-strapped KÓgalo are yet to pay the playing unit two months salaries and no one is sure about the forward’s next move.

But according to the chairman, they have partially paid February and March salaries while noting that their sponsorship is intact and are expecting more funds from their shirt sponsors next month.

“Saying we have not paid salaries is in bad faith. We have done partial payments for the months of February and March, and very soon the salary issues will be a bygone.’’

The club has been through a storm in the recent past over player go-slows with club treasurer Dolphina Odhiambo claiming the club owed its chairman Ksh100 million, a remark that has irked the club’s fan base.

The long serving chairman also indicated that he was not comfortable talking about their sponsorship details but noted that the partnership with a betting firm is still on, with an option of renewal at the beginning of July.

“So much is said about our sponsors. I can only tell you the deal is still on and they still have confidence in the club.’’

The city lawyer however admitted the club may be having challenges but noted it’s been been blown out of proportion.
