National
Super League outfit 3K Football Club has been docked three points after failing
to provide a properly equipped ambulance during their NSL fixture against
Darajani Gogo last weekend, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has confirmed.
The
costly disciplinary action came after the scheduled match was called off due to
medical safety concerns. According to 3K assistant coach Moses Munene, the
ambulance assigned to the fixture arrived late at the venue and lacked basic
emergency medical equipment, prompting match officials to abandon the game.
As a
result, FKF awarded Darajani Gogo a walkover victory and the accompanying three
points, significantly impacting 3K’s league standing. The Nairobi-based side
now sits 11th on the NSL table with 36 points from 27 matches.
“This was
an unfortunate situation. The ambulance arrived late and wasn’t fully equipped,
which cost us the game,” Munene said, expressing disappointment over the
avoidable setback.
However,
3K will be looking to bounce back when they return to action this Wednesday
against Kibera Black Stars as they aim to regain momentum in the second-tier
league.
The
incident has once again sparked conversation about logistical preparedness and
safety standards in lower-tier Kenyan football, with stakeholders calling for
stricter enforcement of matchday requirements.
