Kibera Black Stars assistant coach Tom Juma, has hailed his side’s strong start to the second half of the season after securing a crucial victory 1-0 over Soy in the National Super League at the weekend.
Juma
expressed satisfaction with the team’s overall display, singling out debutants
who rose to the occasion. Goalkeeper Evans Omondi earned special praise for his
composure and assured performance between the posts.
"We
are extremely happy, the win was nice because it came in extra time. They are
young, talented boys with a bright future,” he said.
“They
have been doing very well in training. They took the chance with both hands
after we gave it to them,” he said.
The
encounter was decided by a lone strike by Captain Donald Omwanda, whose
well-timed header sealed the victory in extra time. Juma noted that the goal
was a direct result of the work done in training, highlighting the importance
of teamwork and tactical discipline.
"I
am very excited because when you ate it, we got the goal from a set piece,
exactly as we did in training and it paid off. We are encouraging teamwork and
competition in the team. Ange is coming up, slowly by slowly, he will pick up, he
is so important." Juma said.
The
victory lifted Kibera Black Stars to eighth place on the standings with 30
points. However, they remain 10 points adrift of league leaders Migori Youth as
the battle for promotion intensifies.
With
renewed confidence and improved cohesion, Juma believes the team can build on
this momentum as the NSL season progresses.
