Naivas FC are determined to bounce back to winning ways when they face Nairobi City Stars in their upcoming fixture after suffering a narrow defeat to Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA FC) in their last National Super League outing.
The side went down 1-0 in the encounter at the weekend, a result
that left the team frustrated and affected the morale within the squad.
Speaking to Citizen Digital,
head coach Elvis Ayany admitted the loss took a psychological toll on some of
his players but insisted that efforts are underway to restore confidence ahead
of their next match.
According to Ayani, the technical bench has been working closely
with the players in training to ensure they quickly recover from the
disappointment and refocus on the task ahead.
“The defeat affected some of the players mentally and
psychologically, but we are working on it as we continue preparing for the next
match. Our goal is to ensure we get the three points,” said Ayani.
The coach also expressed dissatisfaction with the officiating
during the match against MOFA, accusing the referee of awarding what he
believes was an undeserved penalty to their opponents, a decision he feels
played a crucial role in determining the outcome of the match.
"We did not lose fairly, the video evidence tells it all. We
lost through a penalty that was not a penalty, we had an upper hand and it's difficult
for us to let it go," he said.
