NSL: Seal close in on the second spot as All-Stars gun for safety
National
Super League promotion-chasing side Murang’a Seal tactician Vincent Nyaberi is
upbeat; his side can collect maximum points from the remaining four fixtures to
seal automatic promotion to the FKF-Premier League.
Nyaberi’s
side staged a strong display on Wednesday to complete a 3-1 comeback victory
against struggling Kisumu All-Stars at the St Sebastian Park in Murang’a to go
third on the log.
The
former Shabana tactician is confident his charges have enough fire in their
belly to see out the remaining matches amidst a jam-packed fixture.
“The
NSL is very competitive but we are realistic about our chances of finishing
within the qualifying slots. The boys are very focused on achieving this feat
despite fixtures coming thick and fast.”
He
has urged his players to stay focused as they seek to secure top-tier football
next season in what could be their maiden appearance since inception.
“It
is going to be tough on us given that we will play our last four matches within
two weeks. We will prioritize having enough rest so that we can be in the right
frame of mind to juggle between short resting periods and travelling long
distances.”
Elsewhere
Kisumu All-Stars head coach Charles Bruno is confident his side will not be
drawn into this season’s relegation dogfight despite enduring a spate of poor
results in their recent outings in the National Super League.
The
former FKF-Premier League side has lost all of their four recent matches
against Silibwet Leons, Coastal Heroes, Kibera Black Stars, and Murang’a Seal,
a series that has got the club’s faithful concerned about their future in the
second-tier league.
However,
Bruno, who turned out for AFC Leopards and former heavy-hitters Gor Mahia, is
confident there can secure their status should they collect maximum points from
their remaining four matches.
“We
are not concerned about our safety since we have our work cut out. We will aim
to collect maximum points to enhance our chances of staying afloat,” he
reckoned.
He
has urged his players to prioritize their remaining ties instead of being
pegged back by their recent poor form.
“Everyone
in our camp is focused on helping the team turn a corner from our recent poor
run, and the players will play a big part in achieving that.
I
encourage them to stay focused on the job ahead and getting it done as soon as
possible.”
