Oaks' Matekwa in the market to replace Wekesa
Zetech Oaks head coach Ramsfield Matekwa is back in the market
looking to replace Mike Wekesa who made a move to KCB during the current
transfer window.
Matekwa admits that it will be difficult to get a proper
replacement for Wekesa, who has been part of the team for four years.
According to the coach Wekesa was pivotal as OAKS won the KRU
Central Region championship, to book their ticket to play in the KRU national
Championship.
“It is giving us a hard time to fill his position because he was
so good in what he did but it is our belief that we shall at least find someone
suitable to play in his place though I know it will take quite some time,” said
Matekwa.
Matekwa has revealed he is eyeing young players to fill up the
gaps left by experienced ones who have found new homes.
“I'm banking on these
young talents because it is my duty to make sure I give them a chance to grow their
talents through the system. If we can expose them when they are still energetic
and hungry for success, that's a plus for me,” added Matekwa.
Oaks will be making their debut in the KRU Championships next
month when the league begins.
