Harambee Stars forward Job Ochieng continued his sparkling rise in Spain after scoring a decisive goal to guide Real Sociedad B to a 2-0 away victory over Cádiz CF in LaLiga 2 on Monday night.
Playing at the
Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla, Ochieng broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute with a
composed finish off an assist from Jon Balda, handing Sanse a crucial advantage
in Round 27 of the Segunda División.
Lander
Astiazaran sealed the win deep into stoppage time, again assisted by Balda, to
cap off an important night for the visitors.
The goal marked
Ochieng’s second in as many matches after netting the winner against Málaga, a
week earlier. His recent form underlines his growing influence in Spain’s
second tier, where he now has four goals in 18 appearances this season.
The 20-year-old’s
impact comes just days after he signed a contract extension with Real Sociedad
on February 20, 2026, committing his future to the Basque club until June 2028.
The improved deal reflects his steady integration into the senior squad, under
head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo.
Earlier this
month, Ochieng made history when he made La Liga debut, against Elche on
February 7, becoming only the third Kenyan after McDonald Mariga and Michael
Olunga to feature in Spain’s top flight. He has since been named on the bench
in high profile fixtures against Real Madrid and Barcelona, signalling growing
trust from the technical bench.
Back home, Ochieng
remains a key figure for Harambee Stars under Coach Benni McCarthy, recently
featuring in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The victory
lifted Real Sociedad B to 31 points, easing relegation concerns in a tightly
contested Segunda División table.
