Odemba happy with Police Bullets slow march towards KWPL title

Police Bullets FC Coach Beldine Odemba is empathic that their march towards the Kenyan Women Premier League (KWPL) title this season is unstoppable.

Odemba, who also doubles up as Harambee Starlets, tactician guided Police to a 3-1 win against Kibera Soccer Ladies on Sunday at the Wolves Den, Olooloitikosh, Kajiado.

It is after the win that the coach asserted that their hunger for the title is the main motivation as the season nears its homestretch.

 “All our remaining matches are tough but I’m sure the mental strength exhibited by girls will be a key factor to finishing strongly. It has so far kept us at the top, and I believe we will continue performing better.

"My girls changed their mentality and they have understand well the assignment, and that’s our secret for good results so far.  For us we are taking each match at a time and we are giving all our opponents their deserved respect," she said.

Odemba added," We are taking one match at a time and we can’t confidently said we have won the league, no, we still have to continue fighting. We have now shifted focus to our next home fixture against Nakuru City Queens on Saturday."

Mercy Njeri, Lydiah ‘Ozil’ Akoth and Puren Anyetu scored the goals to cement their club leadership on the apex of the 12-team league to 40 points, nine behind second placed Vihiga Queens as Ulinzi Starlets, Kibera Soccer Ladies and Bunyore Starlets occupies third to fifth positions with 29, 27 and 16 points respectively.

“I want to congratulate my girls for the good fight so far as I urge them to keep it up. There is no resting on our laurels till the last match.”

Elsewhere at Imani Stadium, Diana Cherono goal was enough to hand four-time champions Vihiga Queens a 1-0 win against Zetech Saprks as Bunyore Starlets thrashed Bungoma Queens 3-1 at Mumboha Gorunds in Luanda.

Earlier on Saturday, Nakuru City Queens settled for a 1-1 draw against Madira Soccer Assasins at the ASK Showground in Nakuru.
