Ogai demands more from strikers as Stima charges to KPL return

Western Stima head coach Paul Ogai has lauded his players for their impressive form in the recent matches, projecting them to the apex of the National Super League (NSL).

His sentiments come after his charges thrashed Administration police 3-2 at Camp Toyoyo on Saturday, sustaining their smooth run towards season target of returning to the Kenyan Premier League (KPL).

The win saw them jump to 58 points on top of the log after 28 matches while Police dropped to position 15 on 26 points.

As the duel for promotion to the Kenya premier league gathers momentum, Ogai has felt heat from the former KPL clubs in the form of Ushuru and KCB.

Ogai however believes a gap of three points is not a guarantee for them to book a ticket to KPL, warning it could be closed within a match.

“It’s difficult to get to the top but even harder to stay there . We need to stay focused to maintain our good run, if panic things might go wrong when we have already seen the gong so near,” Ogai told.

Despite dominating the whole match over the weekend Ogai has also warned his strikers to pull up their socks after failing to convert several open chances.

“I urge my attackers to press even more, because we have been missing so many chances. They have to know their work is to get us goals, they are not midfielders, they are the attackers their job is to finish… ,” Ogai added.

In the last four fixtures, Stima has won three times and lost once while scoring nine goals and conceding four in the process. Nairobi Stima are on 55 points, KCB on 54  and Ushuru on 52, with a match to spare.
