Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) assistant
coach Paul Ogai has urged his strikers to be more clinical in front of
goal as the Bankers target maximum points against second-placed AFC
Leopards on Thursday afternoon at the Moi International Sports Centre
Kasarani, in what promises to be a stern test.
Speaking ahead of
the clash, Ogai admitted that profligacy in front of goal has cost his
side valuable points, adding that despite going down 3-0 at halftime
against Gor Mahia last weekend, his team had a good display in the
second-half but did not take their chances.
KCB has endured a tough run in recent seven outings, winning two, drawing two and suffering four defeats.
The
tactician revealed that the technical bench has since prioritized
sharpening the attack in training to avoid further costly slip-ups.
"We
were the better side in the second half, which is why we contained them
and did not concede despite allowing three in the first 45 minutes, but
the result didn’t fully reflect our dominance, because we gave Gor
Mahia too much respect." stated Ogai
"After the match, we went
back to the drawing board to ensure our forward line is sharpened and
ready to deliver the results we want today.” He added.
The tactician stressed that with the league entering a decisive phase, The Bankers cannot afford wastefulness in front of goal.
“The
second round is 5 matches in, it will be tough and has been tough, and
we cannot afford to take chances lightly.” underscored the tactician.
KCB currently sit 10th on the league table with 29 points from 21 matches and will be looking to climb higher with a positive result on Thursday.
