Oilers to face Catholic Monks at Kakamega Sevens
Prinsloo Sevens champions Menengai Oilers will face varsity
side Catholic Monks in the quarter-finals of the Kakamega Sevens after winning
all their Pool A games on Saturday.
Gibson Weru’s men scored four tries, converting two against a
converted try from varsity Masinde Muliro University to win 26-07.
Dennis Abukuse run through the MMUST defense to score Oilers
second try converting it to make it 14-00 after Bilgad Ogeta first try playing
a one two play with Geoffrey Ominde.
Varsity side Eric Cantona danced through Oilers defense after
a play from number ten Edimond Onyango converting it to make it 14-07 at
halftime.
Timothy Okwemba hard work alongside skipper Ominde added
Oilers third try Abukuse adding the extras.
According to Oilers coach says he was to win back to back
trophies.
"Our target is to get to the finals against any team and
win the series we started well against Vihiga Granite then MMUST. "
The host Western Bulls underperformed but according to Kabras
Sevens head Max Adaka says they'll spoil Oilers and KCB target.
"Our boys Tanga and Fijian John Kubu are back in the
squad and they're angry to win the trophy at their homegrown, we're in the
quarters and we've confident of winning Kakamega Sevens," said Adaka.
