Sprinters Mercy Oketch and Boniface Mweresa will be among the stars when the second leg of the 2026 Athletics Kenya (AK) Track and Field Circuit gets underway on Thursday at Thika Stadium.
In the race walk, 2018 Commonwealth Games 20 km bronze medalist Samuel Gathimba has declared his intention to defend his Thika crown.
A large number of athletes turned up at Thika Stadium today to register and collect bibs, ahead of the three-day event, which features a record 19 disciplines.
Reigning national 400m champion Oketch will be eager to assert her dominance in the women’s 400m following a breakthrough 2025 campaign that saw her rise onto the global stage. Veteran sprinter Mweresa is also set to feature, with plans to double up in the 200m and 400m as he kicks off his season.
