Okoth sees big room for improvement despite Shabana win over Silibwet
National Super League side Shabana FC edged out Silibwet FC 1-0 on
Sunday to rise to fifth in the standings with a game in hand.
The lone goal of the match was scored by
Peter Ogechi in the 87th minute via a header from a corner, granting
them the win.
Shabana coach, Sammy Okoth says that he
is happy with the players' performance, this being their first match of the
season.
He has however said there is a big room to improve, urging them to pull up their socks in the games to come.
“Since this is our first match, the approach hasn’t been easy. I cannot blame the boys, but in the second match I believe the pressure will change and they will be comfortable to play as they did today in the second half.”
Okoth added that his main aim is to play
well in the first leg so as to give them an upper hand once the second leg
begins.
“We are really trying that the first leg
we play well and maybe the second leg we finish off how we finished last
season, which can be important to our goal this season,” he noted.
In other NSL weekend matches, Mwatate United were whipped 0-5 at
home by Naivas FC, while Vihiga United and Coastal Heroes settled for a 2-2
draw.
SS Assad edged Kibera Black Stars 1-0, as Kisumu Allstars and
Mogori Youth ended in a barren stalemate.
