Two-time Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge has been sued alongside three others over the purchase of a contested Ksh.100 million property located in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
According to court documents, Kipchoge has been sued by
Joyce Komen, the wife of former athlete Daniel Komen, who is accusing Kipchoge
and others of buying the property without her consent.
In the case before Eldoret High Court Judge Reuben Nyakundi,
Mrs. Komen accused her husband for disposing off their matrimonial property
without her knowledge.
Others who have been sued alongside Kipchoge are athlete
Brimin Kipruto and two businessmen in Eldoret who also own a piece of the now contested property.
In the court documents, Mrs. Komen states that she was shocked to learn of the sale of the property which she claims to have contributed substantial amount of money, saying the property worth Ksh. 100 million was sold for a measly Ksh.10 million.
“I was shocked to find out that the property was sold off at Kshs. 10 million yet it has developments which boosts its value to over Ksh 100 million," Mrs. Komen says in the papers.
Mrs. Komen, a university lecturer, has petitioned the court to have the sale nullified arguing that the sale and subsequent transfer of title deed was illegal.
"I secured loans to fund and to develop the property. At
the time, we had no place to call home with Komen, what I just want is for the
court to nullify the sale of the property," reads the court documents.
