Commonwealth Games 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala is among the 57 athletes named to represent Kenyan team at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Athletics Kenya named the squad of 32 women and 25 women after the conclusion of national trials on Saturday at the Nyayo Stadium.

With the 100m race being the final event of the two-day competition, Omanyala clocked 9.85 seconds to triumph.

"I am happy since I wanted to run under-10 seconds in the final. It is all about the World Championships now. I will be going to Europe from next week to step up my preparations." Omanyala said.

Fresh from bagging the national title, Simon Koech stamped his authority in the men's 3000m Steeplechase race after clocking 8:22.55 ahead of Abraham Kibiwott and Leonard Bett who all sealed slots in Team Kenya.

Koech has however not attained the qualification standards for the World Championships with the qualifying window set to close on July 29.

World 3000m steeplechase record holder Beatrice Chepkoech will team up with Commonwealth Games champion Jackline Chepkoech and world junior champion Faith Cherotich.

Commonwealth Games 800m champion Mary Moraa will be joined in the two-lap race by Penina Mutisya, Vivian Chebet and Naomi Korir who is yet to hit the qualifying mark for the global event.
