Ongari backs Hassan, Chetambe to keep shining under Ghost

Bandari FC Team Manager Albert Ongari is confident their two players – Danson Chetambe and Abdallah Hassan who are IN Harambee Stars provisional squad preparing for the forthcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers will make the final 25-man squad.

Chetambe and Hassan were instrumental in the two friendlies Kenya has played against South Sudan and Tanzania claiming a goal and an assist respectively.

Chetambe, who is the current top assist maker in the FKF Premier League with seven under his belt, assisted the only goal against South Sudan with Elvis Rupia scoring while Hassan scored the winner as Stars overcame Tanzania 2-1.

“Chetambe and Hassan deserve to be in the final list because they have proved they are ready for the national team duty in the first two friendlies. They should visit our team for more players, we have standard players required in their camp and to help the nation,” said Ongari.

In his first interview after joining Bandari, head coach Andre Casa Mbungo who said clinching the league title is his ultimate target with the Mombasa-based side also noted his desire to prepare more players for national teams call ups.

“Bandari cannot have only one player in the national team, that is an area I will make sure we improve as we go forward,” said Mbungo in January, 2021.
