APS Bomet head coach Sammy Omolo "Pamzo" is confident they will survive the chop despite dropping points against Mara Sugar on Saturday.

The law enforcers, languishing in 17th position on the log, lost a golden opportunity to leapfrog Bidco United and Ulinzi Stars after being condemned to a goalless draw by Mara Sugar, their ninth of the season.

“That is what I promised when I came here and I’m confident we shall remain in the top flight. We can get maximum points from the remaining matches and survive since we are facing teams that are also not fighting for survival apart from Ulinzi,” Pamzo told Citizen Digital.

The 55-year-old rued his team’s failure to convert chances, although he hailed his team for their impressive defensive shift that earned them the important point away.

“I’m happy for the point we got away from Mara. Getting a point at Awendo is not easy and I have to appreciate my players for their effort especially the defence. They did an incredible job to keep a rare clean sheet.”

“I however want the boys to be ruthless in front of goal and convert the chances because we lost two clear-cut chances to win the game. It is something we have to work on,” he added.

The 0-0 draw on Saturday meant APS Bomet kept their sixth clean sheet of the season.

Pamzo has in the meantime urged his boys to stay the course in fighting for survival, saying the team is finding its rhythm and will turn things around.

“We have been playing well but sometimes we found ourselves on the losing side. That is something we’ve been working on and I am confident we will turn things around. We are slowly finding rhythm and my boys are confident to end the season on a high,” Pamzo noted.

APS Bomet will face a resurgent Ulinzi Stars away in their next match, a highly anticipated clash where both teams are fighting to escape the danger zone.

The law enforcers also have tricky fixtures lined up for in the season's homestretch, against title contenders AFC Leopards and Tusker.

They currently have 21 points and are only above Sofapaka in the league ranking with nine matches to play.
