AFC Leopards Secretary General Gilbert Andugu has urged the playing unit to fight for the badge when facing their opponents to safeguard their place in the club's folklore.

According to the former Leopards Mombasa branch Chairman, the club's greats such as Joe Kadenge, Josephat Murila, JJ Masiga, Mahmoud Abbas and others are today revered for the immense contribution they made as players and want the current playing unit to follow suit.

"To all the players of AFC Leopards, I want to urge you to play for the badge.

When you play for the badge you will also be remembered and sung just the way musicians have sung our legends like; Kadenge (Joe), Mulamba (Wilberforce) when they were with the ball it was scary to opponents and that's what we want our players to do.

He went on: “We should remember you for what you have done even when you exit the football scene," Andugu said.

Andugu has also rallied Leopards fans to be steadfast in their support for the team.

"Let's keep coming to stadium in large numbers, keep pushing the team, so  that we may keep registering good results,” he said, adding that,  “When fans come to venues in large numbers it's a motivation to the players.”

Leopards are placed at position eight with 34 points, 16 behind leaders Gor Mahia.

They next face struggling Shabana FC immediately after the international break on March 31.
