Kenya Police FC Chief Executive Officer Chris Oguso says they are keen on sustaining the momentum that saw them win the 2024/25 FKF Premier League champions for the first time.

Oguso says they have an idea of what it means to fly Kenya’s flag in the continentals having played in the CAF Confederation Cup last season, as they turn their focus to CAF Champions League next season.

After falling in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round last season, losing 3-1 on aggregate to Egypt’s Zamalek FC, the club is now targeting a spot in the group stage of Africa’s elite competition.

Speaking after head coach Etienne Ndayiragije was named the SJAK Coach of the Month for June on Thursday, Oguso praised the Burundian tactician for his transformational impact since taking over in November 2024.

“Now that we are proceeding to intercontinental football all eyes are on you. Last time we reached the preliminary round and this time our target is the group stage,” Oguso stated.

Police FC’s rise has been one of the standout stories in Kenyan football this season, and all eyes are now on the Law Enforcers as they prepare to carry the country’s hopes on the continental front.

“We want to give the team the best preparations possible for the league title defence and for the Champions League assignment. We know it cannot just happen without proper plans, and we are already have a clear path to pursue,” he added.

In the meantime, Oguso has voiced his disappointment over the lack of recognition for Police FC goalkeeper Job Ochieng, who had 13 clean sheets in the concluded season but was snubbed from the provisional Harambee Stars squad preparing for CHAN 2024.

“He came in the second half of the season when coach Ndayiragije came in. Managing 13 clean sheets against people who have been playing throughout the season should attract a national team call-up,” opined Oguso.
