The Harambee Stars camp is full of positivity as Kenya prepares to face Chad in an international friendly match on Saturday in Morocco.

According to Second Assistant Coach Antony Kimani, the competition for starting spots is fierce, with every player pushing hard to impress the technical bench.

This, according to the former Kenyan international, is a signal for good times ahead as the team prepares for African Nations Championship (CHAN) set for August.

“The mood in camp is great, and every player selected is giving their best.

“It’s a good kind of headache for us as coaches because everyone wants to prove themselves worthy of starting.”

Kimani underlined that the national team remains open to all deserving players, describing it as a "revolving door" where consistent performances at the club level can earn a call-up.

“There’s always room for more players to come on board. The ones currently in camp have a golden opportunity to show the coach what they’ve got. Anyone doing well out there will definitely catch the coach’s eye,” he added.

Among the new faces in the camp is Bandari FC’s Beja Nyamawi, who expressed his delight at being called up. Nyamawi, who has been putting in strong performances at club level, sees this as a long-awaited opportunity to represent Harambee Stars.

“I’ve been working hard for this chance, and I’m proud to be here,” Nyamawi said.

“The squad has a great bond, and the mood is very positive. We’re focused and ready to deliver the desired results for our fans.”

Harambee Stars are currently ranked 111th globally, while Les Sao are ranked 177th.
