President William Ruto on Monday upped his cash bonuses award scheme to Harambee Stars players and technical bench members, saying if they record a win in their last group match on Sunday against Zambia,  each player and member of the backroom staff will take home Ksh2.5 million.

Initially the players and technical bench members were assured of Ksh.1million in case of a win. Each Stars player has already received Ksh2.5 million – resulting from two wins – against Morocco and DR Congo and a draw against Angola.

Addressing the team Monday afternoon following their victory on Sunday over Morocco, President Ruto pledged each player a two-bedroom house under the Affordable Housing Programme and an additional KSh 1 million if they win the quarter-finals. This would raise the potential reward to Ksh. 6 million plus a house for every player and member of the technical bench.

Ruto added that if the Stars reach the finals by winning their semi-final match, the houses would be upgraded to three-bedroom units.

The President praised Kenyans  - "The Twelfth Man" - for their passionate support, saying the nation believes in the Stars and is united behind their success. He urged the players to maintain their winning spirit.

Should the team advance and win the semi-finals, the houses will be upgraded to three-bedroom units.

President Ruto made these pledges while honouring his earlier promise by rewarding KSh1 million each to all 27 players and 15 members of the technical bench, a total of KSh42 million, following their 1–0 victory over Morocco yesterday.
