Newly
promoted Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL) side MTG United are set to sign five
players ahead of a return to the top tier return after 12 years of wait.
Speaking
to Citizen Digital, head coach
Fathime Hamisi said the team returns to training Wednesday after a short break
to prepare for the upcoming season as well as assess the five players they
intend to sign.
"We
have identified five players from within coastal region who will join us today
for training before we sign them," said Fathime.
According
to Fathimi the aim is to fight and retain their slot in the top tier.
"As
a team we want to go there (the league) and prove that we are also title
challengers and not only participators."
The
Kilifi-based side sealed promotion back to the top-flight league after a 2-1
win over Gideon Starlets FC in a play-off match.
They
will depend a lot on their goal poacher Nelly Kache who was the Division One
top scorer last season after finding the back of the net 26 times in 22 matches.
