Pull up your socks, Quins coach Habimana warns his charges
Kenya Harlequins head coach Dominique Habimana says they have to rectify the mistakes they made in their 20-3 drubbing against Kabras Sugar over the weekend in a Kenya Cup tie.
The Ngong Road based outfit will host Menengai Cream Homeboyz at the Quins ground this weekend and according to the former Simba assistant coach, their target is to win against the ‘Deejayz’.
“We’re going to correct what did not work right for us last weekend in Kakamega and improve, so our idea is to improve every week,” Habimana told Citizen Digital, adding that the goal is to work on the areas that made them lose to Kabras as they shift focus to Homeboyz.
“It was a very tough game as expected and we had to adapt more in terms of intensity but the boys tried to put a good fight,” explained Habimana.
“The boys didn’t give up easily even though we conceded soft tries and kudos to Kabras for getting all the four points,” said Dominique.
“Kabras scored when they needed to score but unfortunately we didn’t do the same and it cost us the match,” he added.
Quins are at position 10 in the Kenya Cup standings with eight points after 11 rounds and Habimana believes his charges will do better in the second round of the season.
“I believe the boys will improve in the second round of the season and finish in a good position at the end of the season,” claimed Habimana.
Meanwhile, after match round 11, Kabras Sugar are still perched at the helm of the table, a point ahead of second placed KCB RFC.
Homeboyz are third with 44 points, nine points ahead of fourth placed Resolution Impala Saracens while Menengai Oilers are at position five with 30 points beating their neighbours Top Fry Nakuru who sit sixth with 29 points.
