Khaemba had been leading the scoring charts in the first leg
of the league before getting sidelined owing to a nagging foot injury, which
gave an opportunity for Police Bullets' forward Rebecca Okwaro and Kibera
Soccer Women's attacker Faith Mboya to clinch the top two slots in the top scorers’
race.
Okwaro of champions Kenya Police Bullets led the scorers’
chart with 16 goals, followed by Faith Mboya of Kibera Soccer Women with 15
goals, while Catherine Khaemba finished third with 13 goals.
“Emerging the top
scorer in the previous season was amazing, no one knew that someone from
Bungoma Queens can achieve that. Last season the goal was the same but injuries
along the way dealt me a blow, giving Rebecca Okwaro a clear chance because I
missed three matches, of which catching up with her proved futile,"
Khaemba said.
Meanwhile, the forward has pledged to prepare thoroughly
ahead of the upcoming season and assured Bungoma Queens fans that she will top
the scorers' chart.
"I am going to prepare thoroughly ahead of the upcoming
season, I'm going to utilize my preseason well, working on weak areas, accurate
passing and all that. I believe I'll come out ready to deliver," she
added.
