Kakamega Homeboyz Chairman Cleophas Shimanyula has challenged Football Kenya Federation chief Nick Mwendwa to vacate office in the wake of declaring Gor Mahia the 2019/2020 Kenyan Premier League champions. Mwendwa made the call last week opening up another battle frontier with the league management body KPL. However, Shimanyula, whose team sat second on the log with 47 points behind Gor Mahia(54) before the move by the federation to declare K’Ogalo the champs, wants Mwendwa to exit the stage. “Mwendwa’s time to leave office lapsed long time ago, he is the reason why football is ailing in Kenya. He has hurriedly ended this season’s league fearing for Kariobangi Sharks potential relegation,” claimed Shimanyula. Sharks who are associated with Mwendwa were 12th placed prior to the ending of the league. While Gor are primed for another show on the continental front following the call by the federation, AFC Leopards’ boss Dan Shikanda has vowed to move to the Sports Disputes Tribunal to challenge the decision. Other club chairmen who have distanced themselves from Mwendwa’s decision to halt the league include Sofapaka’s boss Elly Kalekwa who questioned the hurriedness of the decision. “Mwendwa should have first of all consulted with the Kenyan Premier League before jumping to the a conclusion,” Kalekwa charged.
