Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier has denied reports that the club stood in the way for striker Benson Omalla's move to the Algerian side JS Saoura.

Lifting the lid on the behind-the-intrigues surrounding the transfer, during an interview session on Citizen TV's Sporty Monday programme, Rachier said after being approached by the Algerian side last week on Monday, Omalla had to play a crucial tie against Police FC the following Saturday and by Sunday all the paperwork had been done from their side only to be told the deal has fallen through after the Algerian club found another striker.

Asked on whether his office dilly-dallied with the paper work, he said:  “The club (JS Saoura) approached us on a Thursday, five days before the transfer window closes, we told the coach about it and he said let the player concentrate for the next fixture on Saturday. We did the paper work from our side and I signed everything, when we contacted them they told us they already have found another striker so the move fell through, no one was standing on his way,” said Rachier

After the move fell through it was reported that Omalla failed to show up for training for a few days but the club chairman said the issue has been resolved.

“He is back in training and even played the weekend match against Ulinzi.  I have spoken to him and even the member of the technical bench and all is well,” added Rachier

The veteran administrator also took time to talk about the bad blood between his club and Football Kenya Federation over recent sanctions.

“The bad blood came from when I ran for the federation presidency against his and since 2016 I have not run for the position and I have, and I am not intending to,  even in the upcoming elections,” the club chairman told Citizen TV.

Gor currently led the league standings with 44 point from 21 games, seven ahead of second-placed Nairobi City Stars.
