Posta Rangers head coach Bernard Kawinzi wants his charges to attack Gor Mahia and not fear the defending champions when they clash on Saturday in FKF-Premier League at Kenyatta Stadium.

Gor Mahia got their delayed season off to a flying start with a 4-0 rout against Mathare United on September 28 just before the international break, but Posta Rangers were not in action as their match against Shabana failed to kick off following officials’ no-show.

“Playing Gor Mahia is a big morale booster but when we step on the field we will all be equal. It will be a tough match but we can get all three points and that is our only target,” said Kawinzi.

Before the suspended fixture against Shabana FC, Rangers had suffered a 3-0 defeat against KCB on September 21 but Kawinzi says they have since moved on.

“We analysed what went wrong and I believe we’ve been able to right our wrongs. But we’ve already moved on from the defeat and now our focus is on how to get maximum points against Gor.”

Posta Rangers are currently placed eighth on four points after one win, a draw and a loss.

Gor Mahia completed a double over Posta Rangers in last season with a 1-0 away win before tearing them apart in the reverse fixture, 4-0.

Elsewhere, Police FC assistant coach Antony Kimani says they will not underestimate Ulinzi Stars when the two teams clash on Sunday in the military derby.

Kimani said despite their opponents’ struggles, they will take the match with the seriousness it deserves in the hunt for maximum points.

“This is a derby and in a derby anything can happen we cannot underestimate them because of their recent form we will treat it with the seriousness it deserves.”

Police will be playing their second match of the season after a draw against Tusker FC, and Kimani an improved performance after the international break.

“We used the break to sharpen our attack and game management. That is where we struggled against Tusker FC and I am sure we will be ready for Ulinzi.”

Despite being mentioned by pundits as one of the favourites to challenge for the league title, the former Ulinzi Stars tactician says they will take one game at a time.

“The league is a marathon. It’s one game at a time and playing like a final I believe we have the players who will fight for the title.”

The FKF-Premier League action resumes on Friday with Mathare United versus Bidco United clash opening the fifth round at Dandora Stadium.
