Bandari Queens were held to a goalless draw by a resilient AFC Leopardes side in a Women’s National Super League clash today at Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa County.

The hosts started brightly, creating several early chances through Happy Muta and Chilo Chikophe, but their combination in the final third failed to produce a breakthrough.

AFC Leopardes gradually found their rhythm, with Virginia Mukoshi coming close after her effort brushed the outside of the net.

Under the scorching afternoon sun, both teams headed into halftime locked at 0–0, with hopes high for a livelier second half.

At the restart, an injured Saumu Mnyanzi made way for the speedy winger Kadzo Charo as Bandari Queens pushed for goals.

Just three minutes into the half, Suzan Nyumba linked up well with captain Evamia Nyakha, but the skipper’s shot drifted wide.

In the 57th minute, Happy Muta was fouled in a dangerous area, but Mkoa Venerata’s resulting free kick sailed over the bar.

Five minutes later, Bandari Queens threatened again when Chikophe unleashed a powerful strike inside the box, only for AFC goalkeeper Edah Owendi to pull off a composed save.

The home side continued to push for a late winner, but AFC Leopardes held firm to secure a valuable point on the road.

Speaking after the match, AFC Leopardes head coach Florence Adhiambo welcomed the draw.

“They played well, though the weather was tough. I’m happy we managed to get a point,” she said.

Bandari Queens head coach Jonathan Washe described the match as balanced.

“It was a fair game. We lost our last match here at home, so a draw is an improvement,” he noted.

“We don’t have much squad depth right now, plus we’re struggling with injuries, but we will keep fighting until the January transfer window,” added coach Washe.
