National Super
League side Luanda Villa coach Saleh Leonard has said that his goal to lead the
Mumboha based club to a top six finish is still valid.
According to
Saleh, finishing strong the league will go along to bring the expected results
this season as Luanda Villa is preparing to play Migori Youth FC this Sunday.
“Collecting
maximum points at Migori will give us hope to finish among the top six teams
despite sitting in the tenth position now,” Saleh stated as his side remains
with Vihiga United FC and Darajani Gogo FC fixtures to end this season’s
league.
Last year Luanda
Villa who currently have 42 points in the tenth position finished the season at
position eight with 52 points.
“You cannot
compare last season to this season. Luanda Villa played 19 matches last season
yet this year we will be playing 18 games after two teams we had already beaten
left the league, Muhoroni Youth and Dimba Patriots,” Saleh defended his record
at Mumboha.
“In fact, we have
surprised many who imagined that Luanda Villa would be battling to evade the
relegation axe this season after the mass exodus of key players,” he stated,
revealing that the harmony between the management and the playing unit plus Luanda
villa’s strong fan base has helped a big deal keep the club afloat in the
league.
The former KCB
tactician has expressed optimism in the ability of his team to finish the
league stronger than ever before even though Luanda Villa is not in the title
race this year.
