The third edition of the Nairobi Fight Night is
scheduled to take place on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Alchemist, Nairobi.
According to the fight organizer, Willy Wex, the event will be
electrifying and will include five
fighting categories including, flyweight, cruiserweight, middleweight and lightweight.
“This is our third edition
of the Nairobi Fight Night, we started in August [1st edition] then in
September [2nd edition]. In August we had 3 fight cards, in September we
had 4 fight cards and the 3rd edition we will have 5 fight cards,” noted Wex.
“What we have learned over
time is that we have been able to get young people who are inspired and turning
professional. Ours is just a stepping stone to fighters because I realized
there are less fights especially for those who are starting,” he added.
The much-anticipated match will be the lightweight match between
Samuel Njomo and Raphael Mutua.
Speaking in Nairobi ahead of the match, Njomo’s personal coach, David
Kilu, believes his fighter is all set to
claim the title.
“Njomo has prepared well
enough and he is ready to face his opponent Mutua and I believe that Njomo will
win the fight. The last fighting match Njomo participated in, last week, he won and I
also believe that tomorrow’s match he will win because he is hungry and he is
looking forward to win the match,” said a confident Kilu.
On his part, Mutua believes he is ready
for the match after thorough preparations.
“I have prepared for tomorrow’s match for a long
time, almost a month. My aim is to win the fight.”
The weigh-in took place on Monday
at Alchemist, Westlands, as the fighters look forward to their bouts.
