SEP Oyugis keen to end poor KWPL run

SEP Oyugis executive director Festus Juma is optimistic the club will rediscover its winning ways when the Kenyan Women Premier League resumes on January 9 following the festive season break.

The club has lost both their opening fixtures against Kisumu All Starlets and Vihiga Queens and Juma says they must end that streak during their next match against Wadadia at the Mumias Complex.

“I can say the two losses were a result of poor preparations which was caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Since the sports activities were halted early this year, we haven’t trained for long until the league resumed”

“Before the kick off the new season, we carried out a Covid-19 test amount out players and officials and unfortunately one of my players (Zena Ogada) and other four officials amount them team’s doctor tested positive”

“We had to quarantine them for 14 days and we they are about to test again before being allowed to resume their duties. Zena Ogada is amount my best players whom I missed in our two first matches. In our second match Vihiga benefited from an own goal, so they should not be proud of that.”

In the next KWPL campaign, Juma has assured of defeating Wadadia in Mumias Complex on January 9 as they will resume camp on December 31, 2020.

“I have called my players back to the camp on 31st and on 1st January we shall start out training. All this is to have early preps for the upcoming task and I believe we shall recapture the lost glory. Watch our pace; we are the team to watch” Added Juma.

Wadadia were beaten 2-0 by Vihiga Queens in their first match before facing a 5-1 setback in the hands of Trans Nzoia Falcons in the second match.
