Kenyan
international Farouk Shikhalo has confirmed that his one-season-stay at
Tanzania’s Mainland Premier League side Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) has
come to an end.
The
former Yanga SC and Bandari FC goalkeeper is now headed to Tanzania’s Mtibwa
Sugar, where he is expected to ink a one-year deal.
Speaking
to Citizen Digital, Shikhalo who is
en route to Tanzanian to complete the deal said he’s confident of getting the
agreement over the line in the course of the week.
“I can’t say which day exactly (I’ll sign) but
it’s definitely before the end of week,” he told Citizen Digital on phone on Tuesday.
Further,
Shikhalo heaped praise on the Tanzania premier league saying the proper organization
of the competition makes it among ‘the best leagues in the region’.
“Tanzania
Premier League is well organized,” said Shikalo, noting that the Kenyan Premier
League is engulfed in ‘huge leadership chaos’, contrary to Tanzanian club football
competition which has attracted a lot of sponsorship.
Shikhalo
two days ago bade KMC fans farewell with a post on his Instagram page, wishing
the team well.
“I would like to take this opportunity to
thank the entire KMC family, which has been a part and parcel of my life in
Tanzania. It was a great pleasure working together with you all,” Shikhalo
wrote.
The Tanzania Premier League is expected to resume by mid next month.
