Shock as champions KCB crash out of Africa Championship

KCB’s dream to win back-to-back African titles went up in smoke on Friday afternoon following a 3-2 sets shock defeat by MC Alger of Algeria in the quarter finals of the ongoing African Women's Volleyball Clubs Championship in Tunisia.
The last-gasp 15-13 win from the Algerians in the deciding fifth set put a spanner in the works for the defending champions, with their routine straight sets win since the start of the championship painfully coming to an end.
The last-eight served up a gripping five-setter ending in favour of the Algerians with swing sets of 25-22, 25-27, 25-20, 16-25 and 13-15 to dump the Kenyans out of the medal race.
MC Alger were first off the blocks winning the first set 25-22 before KCB made a comeback triumphing in the second and third sets (27-25, 25-20) but failed to maximise the lead advantage after the Algerians won the fourth and fifth sets (25-16, 15-13) to book the semi final ticket.
The Bankers will now play in the classification matches.
