Injera, the legendary all-time leading scorer of Kenya's national rugby sevens
team, has praised Shujaa for their impressive start to the ongoing HSBC SVNS
2025s.
Injera has expressed his admiration for the team’s recent Dubai and Cape Town performances,
where their determination and growth were on full display.
Shujaa
currently sit ninth on the table with 11 points out of 12 teams, while
Fiji leads with 36 points.
"Many
people doubted them, especially considering their recent return to the sevens
circuit," Injera commented.
"But
their first match against France was a clear statement—they played
exceptionally well.
“The
improvement is undeniable compared to past performances.
“Competing
in the Challenger Series played a vital role, particularly for young players
who lacked experience in a high-stakes league like HSBC."
Injera
expressed optimism about their future prospects, reflecting on the team's
progress.
He
noted that their performances in Dubai and Cape Town demonstrated Shujaa’s
ability to compete at an elite level.
Injera
believes this upward trajectory will disrupt expectations and earn the team the
respect they deserve.
"If
they maintain this momentum, they will continue surprising opponents.
“Teams
will no longer underestimate them," Injera added.
"Shujaa
is proving to be a formidable force. They are on the path to achieving
remarkable results with calmness, focus, and humility."
Kenya
has been drawn with Fiji, New Zealand, and Uruguay in pool C for the third round
of HSBC SVNS 2025 on 24-26 January in Australia.
