SJAK blow out Azam TV in pre-season friendly

On August 28, 2011, historic Old Trafford turned into a 'crime' scene as hosts Manchester United FC beat visiting Arsenal to a pulp during an English Premier League match.
The end result was an 8-2 shock defeat that left Arsenal
fans in tears and disbelief.
Fifteen years later, the movie-like scene was replicated
today (Saturday) at the Kenya School of Law in Karen, Nairobi, where the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK FC) took rivals Azam TV head-on in a
friendly football encounter.
Flawless SJAK whitewashed their opponents with a similar
margin in the one-sided encounter.
Those who pumped goals for SJAK with reckless abandon were
Steve Ayoo, Mathew Tuta (brace), Stephen Ochieng, Brian Amlyoto, Benson Dibo,
Alvin Arocho, and Erick 'Opong' Ochieng.
Salim Ali, who is also the lead commentator for Azam TV,
pulled two back for the determined opponents.
The match was the opening fixture for SJAK, which has lined up
a number of local and international friendlies this season.
"We have a number of high-end fixtures this year, and so we were using this game to gauge our level of fitness.
"We have planned for at
least two friendly matches every month as we gear up for other international
battles.
“Winning this match, with such a humongous margin, was an
indication of good tidings that are ahead for us," SJAK Ex-Co Member Beki
Mwamburi, who graced the encounter, highlighted.
Azam TV members were encouraged to join SJAK, which is a noble
body that promotes the rights and privileges of sports scribes.
Later this month, SJAK members will have a lifetime trip to
the coastal city of Mombasa, where they will undergo an intense four-day
anti-doping training, to be carried out by the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya
(ADAK).
"I'm happy to finally be a full SJAK member. Today, I
got the opportunity to attend the association's football fixture, where I had a
rare chance to meet, interact, and socialize with other like-minded members.
I can't wait to travel to the Kenyan coast with SJAK," underlined Anita Omwenga, a brand-new SJAK member who spins copies for the Kenya News
Agency.
