National Super League side 3K Football Club will be seeking to turn their fortunes around when they take on Nairobi City Stars on Sunday in an NSL encounter at Moi Stadium, Embu County.
After a difficult start to the year that has seen them lose their opening two matches, 3K are keen to register their first victory of the season.
Speaking to Citizen Digital ahead of the crucial tie, head coach Francis Chege remains optimistic, revealing that the defensive lapses that cost the team in recent outings have been identified and corrected in training.
"We are confident that we will get good results on Sunday because we are looking for our first win of the year. We have played two games and lost all of them. We are struggling in defense but the boys have trained well and are focused to play on Sunday," Chege said.
The tactician also expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness, noting that the players have responded positively and are fully prepared for the challenge ahead as they look to climb up the NSL standings.
However, the 3K tactician is under no illusions about the task facing his side. He admitted that Nairobi City Stars bring a wealth of experience to the fixture, having previously competed in the Kenyan Premier League. Their ability to perform well away from home, backed by a solid playing system, makes them a formidable opponent.
"Every opponent is now unpredictable because the transfer window is open and teams are reinforcing. It will be a tough game because our opponents played in the Kenyan Premier League." Chege said.
The clash is expected to be competitive, with both teams eager to collect maximum points. Kick-off is set for 3:00 pm on Sunday at Moi Stadium in Embu, where 3K will be hoping home support can inspire them to a much-needed win.
