Sofapaka head coach David Ouma has hailed the appointment of
former Kibera Black Stars tactician Paul Ogai as his assistant saying he will
be a great addition to his technical bench.
The 2009 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL)
champions appointed Ogai as Ouma’s deputy on Tuesday with the duo now expected
to work together beginning with the pre-season.
Apart from Kibera Black Stars, some of the teams that coach
Ogai has previously handled are Western Stima, Kisumu All-stars, Coast Stima
and Palos FC.
“I am very happy for his appointment and I believe he will do
a nice job as we aim to be competitive in league and cup next season.
“It wasn’t hard for me to choose him because he is a person I
know very well having trained him when I was working for the Royal Netherlands
Football Association (RNFA) and also we worked together in Kisumu in 2005. We
share similar ideas and more so those of nurturing talents in the team," Ouma said.
Ouma said they have intensified their training ahead of the
next season as they look forward to unveil their squad on Friday.
“We are doing very well in the camp and as the head coach I
am training my players in four aspects including general preparation, Specific
preparation, Pre competition and player’s valuation.
“I retained 17 players out of 30 we had last season and will add eight of whom we shall unveil he full squad on Friday. Among
those acquired is Migori Youth youngster Ben Stanley who is very promising and I am sure he will
be more useful when the season kicks off.”
