SS Assad lament unplayed matches derailing their plans

SS Assad FC head coach Ali Marumu says missing the last two National Super League matches due to referees' go-slow has derailed their plan of climbing up the league table.

The Kwale-based side did not play against Mombasa counterparts Coastal Heroes a fortnight ago while also last weekend's  match against Kibera Black Stars  did not materialise in Ukunda after referees failed to show up for the game, in demand for their dues.

“We had planned to win the two matches and move higher from the relegation threat but our opponents played and thus changed the log,” said Marumu.

Despite the setbacks, Marumu reckons they are preparing for an away tie against Fortune Sacco this weekend and has called upon the league organizers to put their house in order.

“It demoralizes a lot preparing your team for a whole week and the match is not played plus the expenses but we will still travel to Kirinyaga County for our next fixture.”

He added: “We call upon whoever will take charge of the league management as the caretaker committee completes their term to give us a good avenue to complete the season without any problem.”

The Aaron Ringera led committee has already submitted their report for the six months they have been in office to the sports cabinet secretary Amina Mohammed earlier today.

Assad are placed 16th  on the NSL table with 26 points after playing 22 matches as Fortune Sacco lead the log with 44 points having played 24 matches.
