After emerging as the football champions, of the Kenya Secondary
Schools Sports Association, Trans Nzoia County, Rift Valley region soccer
defending champions St. Joseph’s Boys High School, Kitale have their eyes
trained on defending the title.
According to their head coach Amos Juma, the Rift Valley
region football giants have set sights on retaining their top spot this season,
aiming to perform even better than last year and hopefully win the national
title.
"We were crowned regional champions last year, this
season our target is to retain our title and even challenge for the national
championship," Juma told Citizen
Digital.
According to the tactician, emerging the best team at the
county level was not a walk in the park, attributing it to the boys’ hard work
that enabled them to qualify, and advance to the regional stage.
The Saints, succeeded in silencing their neighbours, and
arch rivals, St. Anthony's Kitale, to grab the bragging rights thrashing their rivals, famously known as ‘Solidarity
Boys’, 5-0, in a one sided semi-final, before edging Bwake 1-0 in the final.
Both St. Joseph and Bwake booked automatic tickets to the
Rift Valley regional competitions, after finishing first and second
respectively, in the Trans Nzoia County games.
