Stanbic Aces edge The Swish in exciting basketball league clash

Stanbic Aces narrowly defeated The Swish BC with a
54–50 victory in the Kenya Women’s Basketball Premier League clash played at the
Nyayo Gymnasium on Friday.
The win keeps the Aces in second place, while Swish
BC stays sixth in the standings.
The game started quickly and fiercely. In the first
quarter, both teams exchanged points rapidly.
Swish’s Lavender Opondo played aggressively, while
Stanbic’s Morine Nyanganyi responded with accurate mid-range shots. By the end
of the first ten minutes, the score was level at 23–23.
In the second quarter, Stanbic Aces began to pull
ahead outscoring Swish BC 25–14, the Aces gained momentum through Emily
Bosibori’s sharp shooting and Nyanganyi’s steady scoring.
Swish BC attempted to keep pace, but missed chances
kept them behind as the teams went into halftime at 38–33.
During the third quarter, both sides fought hard for
every possession. Swish BC showed resilience, but Stanbic maintained their
lead, ending the quarter at 50–44. The game remained close, with each basket
met by an immediate reply.
The final quarter was tense. Swish BC made a late
push, outscoring the Aces 12–10 in the last period. Maker Deng scored vital
points, and Lavender Opondo kept Swish within reach. However, Stanbic’s
composure in crucial moments allowed them to secure the 54–50 win.
The victory takes Stanbic Aces to three wins and one
loss, solidifying second place behind Equity Hawks.

games, showing signs of potential but still seeking consistency.
