Preparations gear up for 2024 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon

It is all systems go ahead of the 2024 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon after Standard Chartered Bank announced a Ksh. 100 million sponsorship kitty to support this year's edition.
According to
Standard Chartered Head of Corporate Affairs Joyce Kibe, the war chest is aimed
at streamlining preparations for this year’s edition, which has attracted more
than 25,000 participants.
"This year,
we have 40 sponsors out of 30. The total investments we have received from our
stakeholders are in Ksh. 172 million, and as the key sponsor, Standard
Chartered, we have been able to invest Ksh. 100 million so as to make the event
a success.’’
The number of
partners for this year’s edition of the Standard Chartered Marathon slated for
27th October has increased, underlining the continued growth of the annual
race.
Speaking earlier
today during a press briefing at Carnival ground in Nairobi, Local Organizing Committee for the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon, Peter Gitau empahsised the race organizer’s commitment to engage more key
stakeholders to maintain its growth.
‘’Working with our sponsors, we feel,
is the best way to make the Marathon a success and also to bring in people
towards the future makers initiative.’’
Gitau also
revealed that registration for this year’s edition has exceeded the 23,000
target, with the current enrollment standing at over 25,000 participants.
He has rallied
more participants to register before the deadline.
‘’ Originally, we were aiming to
register 23,000 participants, and we had set a deadline of 13th October.
“However, we have exceeded the amount
to 25,000 participants, and currently, we have slightly above 24,000 thousand
participants; after we have reached our mark, we will close the registration.’’
The main marathon will be held in
Nairobi and the satellite runs in Kisumu, Kakamega and Mombasa.
