Struggling Nzoia can avoid relegation, says coach Biko

Nzoia Sugar tactician Steve Biko has tipped his side to avoid relegation from the FKF-PL this season, despite languishing at the bottom of the table with 16 points after 23 rounds of play.

Despite the bleak outlook, Biko remains optimistic with the Bungoma-based side will find a way to secure enough points to stay afloat at the end of the season.

.

"There are a lot of chances we can utilize to avoid relegation.

“When you look at other teams who are slightly above us, you will realize that the gap is only less than six points.

“We have around 12 matches remaining and we will have to take them as finals, collect as many points as possible to help us move away from the relegation zone.

“We have to have discipline and work hard in order to achieve our target which is to remain in the top flight football come the end of the season", said Biko

.

Nzoia have only managed to win four matches, four draws and a whopping 15 losses with the worst goal-difference of -19 in 23 matches this term.

"I can say that my players are still young and hence the reason we are not clinical in front of goal.

“We are not creating a lot of chances and therefore becomes another problem when it comes to putting the ball behind the net.

“There is no experience which is the reason we are losing many balls in the final third", Biko explained.

The Millers have only won once in seven matches since the turn of the year, a 2-1 win against Bidco United 2-1 on February 11.

They will take on 13th-placed FC Talanta this Sunday at Sudi Stadium, Bungoma before the international break.

The millers have endured an extended period of financial struggles after failing to secure sponsorships.
