Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Nzoia Sugar FC has roped in Posta Rangers forward Alfred Tanui Emoni and Kisumu All-Stars defender Salim Odeka.

The club was seeking to bolster their squad ahead of the second leg run-in where they will be seeking to avoid relegation.

Nzoia have been on a downward spiral as they have recorded eight defeats, eight draws and a win (W1, D8, L8) in seventeen matches played so far this term.

Odeka is a seasoned defender; he has played for Sony Sugar, Posta Rangers, Western Stima, and Kisumu All-Stars before landing at Nzoia.

He will be tasked with beefing up the backline that has been letting in goals in almost each and every game, coach Salim Babu had earmarked his backline as an area that needs to be strengthened.

“The team has been letting in too many goals and our backline is an area that we may need to address, we have to do better in that area,” Babu said.

Tanui reunites with Babu whom he worked with at Kisumu All-Stars.

The young striker, who was named the National Super League (NSL) Young Player of the Season last year, leaves Posta without featuring in any competitive match.

In Babu, he links up with the coach who gave him a taste of competitive football.

“He is a good boy - he takes instructions well and is keen to learn. As a coach, it is satisfying when you see a player you gave a chance to grab it and excel. Tanui is one player who is hungry for success and I believe that one day he will be a top player,” Babu told Citizen Digital.

The two players could be available for the weekend’s assignment against Nairobi City Stars at their Sudi backyard.
