Thika Queens Team Manager Glenstone
Muganga says they are now directing all their energy to the Kenya Women Premier
League, shifting attention from the CECAFA Women Club Championship they were
set to feature in May.
With no indication of Kenya’s
readmission to international football anytime soon, Muganga is only thinking of
clinching the KWPL title, as the CECAFA fiesta kick-off
date is fast approaching - on May 22 in Uganda.
“It really affected us but it’s not a
must we play in the championship. It has its own advantages playing there but
there is always a next time if things won’t get fixed in good time. Right now,
our focus in the remaining six games which we have to win,” said Muganga.
Queens have 26 points from 13 matches, nine
adrift league leaders Vihiga Queens who represented Kenya in the last CECAFA
edition.
Muganga meanwhile has revealed they have
roped in influential striker Wendy Achieng.
“We brought in Wendy Achieng and she has
brought so much energy into the team since joining us and we hope for more from
her.”
Their next assignment is against Gaspo
on Saturday at the Stima Members Club.
