Top Fry Nakuru eyeing a better outing in Driftwood Sevens

Top Fry Nakuru RFC head coach Mitch Ocholla says his charges aims to better their results in the next round of local sevens circuit, Driftwood Sevens, to be played this weekend at the Mombasa Sports Club, Mombasa.

The Wanyore’s climbed two places to fourth in the table with 41 points eight behind third placed KCB after finishing as runners up at the Kabeberi Sevens played last weekend in Machakos.

In Mombasa they will battle it out with Blak Blad, Resolution Kisii and Silverstone Kisumu in pool B.

“In the next round we will see how our players bodies will react because we lost seven players after the Sepetuka Sevens in Eldoret, so in Mombasa we will hope to have our top players without injuries.”

The former Shujaa coach hopes to change some areas ahead of the tournament they are used to; having finished runners up in 2015, the year they won their first and only circuit in their history.

“We will change the psychological barriers. In terms of attitude the mode of the game  and the environment matters a lot, showing the players can compete against anyone.”

Ocholla who has played and coached Shujaa hopes that Kenya Sevens back utility  Oscar Ouma Achieng will make it to Driftwood Sevens after missing the previous outing with personal commitment.

“Oscar has personal commitment thats why am hoping he will be able to come on in Mombasa but we want to manage the scenario and see if we can get him back in play because he is a player who can add more to play.”

Ocholla added that the competition is becoming more competitive with the big guns going down.
