Tusker FC to use Kinoru Stadium as home ground

Tusker FC CEO Charles Obiny says they have settled on Kinoru Stadium as their home ground ahead of the 2018/19 season, the tough measures rolled out by the Meru County Government notwithstanding.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Obiny said the leadership of Tusker FC has already met with the Meru County Sports Council and agreed to make the facility their home ground.

On Tuesday Citizen Digital exclusively reported on how the county, in a bid to spur football interest and growth in the region, is rolling out measures aimed at promoting the growth of the beautiful game in the region – which clubs wishing to use the facility as their home ground, must fulfill.

The rafts of measures include recruiting a minimum of five players from the county to their development squad, relocating to Meru, and combing the region for fresh talents.

The facility is currently undergoing some renovation works and Obiny maintains that “it is no concern” as it will be ready to host them in December when the KPL season begins.

“We will move there because we had met and agreed on everything and we will meet the rules set by the sports council,” Obiny told Citizen Digital on Wednesday.

The players who will be lucky enough to catch the eye of Tusker scouts will be incorporated in their youth team.

Added Obiny:  “We are ready to tap talents from Meru, Maua, Tharaka Nithi and everywhere… to make sure that football grows.”

Obiny also believes that with the support of fans from the region, they can challenge for the league title which they last won in 2016.

“We are bringing football to the people of Meru; we ask them to come out in large numbers to support Tusker FC.
